The Game? Yes. Like Baseball or Football or Darts, Barrel Racing Dogs should always remain and shall always be a Game. A game that is a fun time for your/the dog, it's owner/trainer and a pleasure to watch by spectators. Even when you are at a Competition and you are nervous and really want to win. Keep it fun for your dog. Always remember, it is a Game.
This is where the saddles and riders come into play. They make it fun. They help make the sport a game. It gives people a little bit more to see. It gives others an opportunity to grin, smile, laugh and enjoy the sport.
Well trained dogs are a must at competitive events. Everyone loves to see a well trained dog having a great time. Everyone loves to see a dog and their owner having fun together. Everyone loves to see people silly with their well trained dogs. No one wants to see a bad sport with an untrained dog on a leash.
Well groomed dogs are always a nice thing to see. Make sure your dog is looking good and having fun. A dog that looks a mess, getting yelled at by an owner that did not take the time to train it before the event, gives the whole event a bad spin.
TRAIN YOUR DOG. GROOM YOUR DOG. DRESS NICE. BE A GOOD SPORT. ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS FROM SPECTATORS IN A FRIENDLY MANNER. HAVE FUN! MAKE IT A FUN GAME! THE SPORT WILL SURELY GROW FROM THERE.
Keep it fun. Keep it a Game. Have Fun. Be a good sport. Enjoy your dog, the day, and every other person and dog around you.
